A Place In The Sun’s Jasmine Harman opens up on change at home ‘Feel like a failure'

A Place In The Sun presenter Jasmine Harman, 44, proved she is just the rest of us as she opened up about comfort eating during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown. The presenter said she got into the habit of drinking wine “every day” and eating more then usual in recent weeks, which has caused her to gain weight.

The property expert suffered from coronavirus back in March while her husband Jon Boast was away from their home for work purposes.

Jasmine said being left at home with the couple’s two children gave her no time to exercise and caused her to eat more.

Opening up about her weight change in Closer Magazine, she said: “I’ve never been much of a drinker, but it got to the point where I’d have wine every day with dinner.

“If friends were toasting a new baby I’d think, ‘Why not have a Gin ’n’ Tonic and celebrate with them?’

“In some ways, it felt like being on holiday when you let yourself go. I was totally comfort eating and drinking.

“I’d go on Instagram and feel like a failure,” she added as she recalled seeing posts of people being productive during their time at home.

Jasmine said she noticed she had gone from a size 10-12 in clothes, to a size 14.

“I weighed myself and I was 11st 9lbs,” she added. “It was a shock because this time last year I was 10st.”

She said: “I just felt really uncomfortable.

“I just felt so big and when you’re on TV you don’t want to have all lumps and bumps, you want to look nice in your clothes whatever size you are.

“If you’re wearing a figure-hugging dress and you’ve got bulges then… I think for a while I was having to wear shapewear under my clothes and when it was hot I was like, ‘Why do I have to wear this stuff, I am twice as hot now?’”

Jasmine went on to say after her five-year-old daughter was born, she decided to throw herself back into fitness.
