A Place in the Sun's Jasmine Harman details real reason behind brave weight gain pictures

Back in February, in the middle of the third national lockdown, Jasmine Harman took to Instagram to share a very candid post about her weight gain. And now, the A Place In The Sun presenter has said she shared the photos in order to “come clean” after feeling “ashamed” of herself.

In a new interview, Jasmine said she was “scared” of showing herself on social media, as she was not happy with her appearance and had started posting old pictures instead.

The Channel 4 star was in part disappointed that she had not been able to maintain her healthy lifestyle during lockdown.

But she also felt she had let down fans, who had been inspired by her weight loss journey over the past 18 months.

In the Instagram post, Jasmine shared two pictures side-by-side which illustrated her lockdown weight gain.

She also admitted that she was “struggling to keep her head above water” let alone find the time to workout.

When asked why she had shared the post, Jasmine said: “Mainly because I was really down on myself and feeling ashamed of myself and like I’d really let myself down.”

She continued to say that she knew putting on weight wasn’t a big deal, but it made her think twice about sharing new pictures online.

“I felt like I was hiding myself behind social media, sharing old photos, scared of actually showing myself as I was because I felt ashamed of myself,” she told Entertainment Daily.

“No-one expected a pandemic to rock the world as it has. Everything has changed.

“It’s easy to slip into a downward spiral of depressive thoughts & lethargy when the world seems to be falling apart. Mindset is everything.

“Logically I know it is. But it doesn’t make it any easier to snap out of it when you are feeling low,” she said, before urging her 78,200 followers, who had found themselves in similar situations, to reach out to others.

Following the ease of lockdown restrictions, Jasmine is feeling more positive and has been able to return to the gym and her pre-lockdown routine.
