We all know what lack of sleep does to our skin – one too many restless nights means a dull, lackluster complexion, and any underlying inflammatory conditions like acne or rosacea almost instantly flares up. Instead of searching for all the necessary ingredients to treat each respective condition, wouldn’t it be great if they were all bundled up in one slick, supercharged treatment that could solve your skincare woes in one fell swoop? Well, that’s the concept behind new mask brand _faace.
Debuting with three ingredient-packed masks, _faace aims to take the fuss out of prescriptive skincare by formulating its products based on everyday realities. First, there’s Tired Faace, which contains a cocktail of potent ingredients including retinol and vitamin C to brighten, as well as caffeine to perk up dark circles, aloe vera to soothe and promote healing and Frankincense to strengthen.
Then, there’s Sweaty Faace for any heated post-gym moments or if you’re lucky enough to be headed to warmer climates. It contains Bergamot to spot check any breakout zones, Galbanum to deep clean pores, grapefruit and vitamin C for an antioxidant fix and Argan oil to replace lost moisture without clogging up the skin.
Finally, there’s Period Faace (although you don’t have to be on your period to benefit from it). It contains zinc to regulate sebum production
(great for both oily and dry skin), green tea and hyaluronic acid to soothe and hydrate, white willow – a derivative of salicylic acid, the blemish busting hero ingredient, and natural antiseptic clary sage.
Aside from the impressive ingredients, _faace also amazes with its charitable side. They’ve partnered up with Hey Girls, an environmentally-friend period product brand, to help tackle period poverty, with every mask sold meaning one pack of period products will be donated to someone in need. This product is not what you would expect. Rather than the thick, clay-like texture that clarifying masks usually have, Period Faace is a clear gel that can be applied as a thick layer for a leave-on mask, or worn as a thin layer underneath makeup for all day long treatment.
I opted for a thick layer, and left it on for 20 minutes before bedtime (you can leave it on overnight if you want but I always prefer a bare face). The slightly cold sensation means that it feels exceptionally refreshing, and the earthy, herbal scent only adds to the sense of wellbeing.
By the 20 minute mark, it had almost entirely absorbed into my skin. Yes, my breakouts were still there but the redness had subsided, and my skin was left feeling fresh and looking hydrated, plump and glowy.
