9 GLAMOUR-approved ways to rock this season’s puffed sleeved trend

Fan of OTT fashion? Well, you’ll be thrilled to know that puffed sleeves are making a comeback for spring/summer 2020. They’re arguably one of the biggest (and easiest to wear) trends of the season, so it’s time to make way.

If they look familiar, it’s because they did see a subtle revival in 2019 – Zara, Topshop and Ganni were among the brands championing them the hardest – but this year they’re more exaggerated. Whether you shop designer or on the high street, there’s kinda no escaping them – from statement shoulder dresses to tops where the volume sits a little further down the arm. We can’t get enough of the puff.

So many brands have already been getting in on the act. & Other Stories arguably does the trend the best when it comes to high street puff sleeve offerings, but Topshop and Ghost are also smashing it. Oh – and Nasty Gal are seriously hot on the trend. Who knew?

So how can you wear the puff sleeve trend well, without feeling frumpy and ridiculous? Well, with a bit of strategy, it’s easy. There are so many subtle ways to make the trend work, from structured mini dresses with a slight bit of volume at the shoulder to cardigans which “puff” out only slightly. If you want to jump on more than one trend at once, organza puff sleeves are a stylish way of marrying the sheer layering and puff sleeves trends together beautifully. You could even bag yourself a coat with slightly puffed sleeves, if you want to limit the trend to your outerwear.
