5 players Arsenal could sign next as Aubameyang deal finally confirmed

Arsenal have already been busy in the transfer window – but the uncertainty over some players could see the north London side dip into the market again.

New defender Gabriel Magalhaes scored on his Premier League debut, helping the Gunners to a 3-0 win against Fulham to top the table.

While Willian, who made the move across the capital from Chelsea, chipping in with two assists.

Mikel Arteta’s defence will also be bolstered by the arrival of teenager William Saliba, signing last summer from Sanit-Etienne before being loaned back for the 2019/290 campaign.

Arsenal have arguably done their most important business by signing captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to a new three-year deal.

But we’ve picked out five more signings that could improve the Gunners’ top-four chances even more.

New signings Willian and Gabriel Magalhaes both hit the ground running against Fulham but Mikel Arteta is still on the lookout for new signings.

Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar and Brentford keeper David Raya are two of the names on their radar.

David Raya

Arsenal have already seen a big departure between the posts, with Emiliano Martinez set to end his nine-year stay in a move to Aston Villa.

Bernd Leno took up his space as No.1 again at Craven Cottage while his understudy will now be Matt Macey.

And it has seen them chase Brentford shot-stopper Raya, whose 16 clean sheets in 38 Championship games helped the London side reach the play-offs.

The Spaniard has only spent one season in west London, moving from Blackburn – but his Golden Glove-winning season has piqued Arteta’s interest.

Leno’s injury against Brighton in June could have been disastrous but Martinez stepped up valiantly. If he goes, Raya could be the ideal replacement after such as strong season.

Diego Carlos

While Arsenal’s new defender Magalhaes may have impressed in his scoring debut – but the back-up options make for worrying reading.

Shkodran Mustafi appears ready to leave while Sokratis Papastathopoulos was unused since lockdown, leading to speculation of an exit.

And this could see Arteta turn to Sevilla defender Deigo Carlos, whose deflected shot helped the club to their sixth Europa League honour in his debut season.

His continental experience would be attractive to Arteta – and it would see the club battle Liverpool for his signature.

But the manager could also be looking to the future as the 27-year-old’s presence would give 19-year-old Saliba the chance to develop without pressure.

Max Aarons

Another player to impress in the 3-0 win against Fulham was Hector Bellerin, sprinting down the right wing to push Arsenal forward.

But his days at the Emirates Stadium could be coming to a close as PSG and Barcelona are both interested in the Spaniard.

It could see them turn to Norwich’s highly-rated defender Aarons, one of the shining lights in the Carrow Road side’s slump to relegation last year.

Only missing three games last season, the full-back’s durability has seen Arsenal facing Tottenham in a transfer battle for the 20-year-old.

His top-flight experience and youth would make the Englishman a like-for-like replacement if Bellerin leaves.

Thomas Partey

The Atletico Madrid midfielder is certainly not a new name for Arsenal fans…

This saga has been going on throughout the summer as the north London side, with Partey keen on a north London move as the Gunners try to find funds for his £45m release clause.

With 185 appearances over five seasons for the La Liga giants, the Ghanaian would bring solidity in front of Arteta’s defence.

One suggestion to make the transfer has been sending Alexandre Lacazette the other way, which the Frenchman is strongly against.

But Arsenal are expected to compete for Partey until the end of the window.

Houssem Aouar

Another player Arsenal look like they will move on is Mesut Ozil, who has not featured once since lockdown and was not part of the squad for the Fulham win.

It would see the north London side lose a creative midfielder hailed for his passing ability.

But they could also pick one up in Lyon star Houseem Aouar, who grabbed 10 assists and nine goals from midfield last year.

With four seasons in Ligue 1 as well as Champions League semi-final experience, the Frenchman would provide a creative link between the Gunners’ defence and attack.

And Arteta appears to be wasting no time by “getting in touch” with Aouar, which also suggests he will be the Ozil replacement.
