2020 sports events calendar: a month-by-month guide to the action

After the thrills and spills of 2019, which featured three World Cups, the 2020 sporting calendar promises to be even more dramatic.

Headline events include football’s European Championship, golf’s Ryder Cup and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

There’s also the annual four tennis grand slams, men’s and women’s golf majors and various football finals.

The biggest event in the first few months of the year will be the heavyweight boxing rematch between WBC champion Deontay Wilder and challenger Tyson Fury on 22 February in Las Vegas.

Here we take a look at the month-by-month schedule for sport in 2020.
