15 wardrobe storage ideas and wardrobe organisers to make finding your outfits a breeze

You’re probably in need of some wardrobe storage ideas if, like us, you’ve been splurging in the January sales and buying far more clothes and accessories than your closet has the space for. And if the idea of sifting through your belongings, separating them into to-keep and to-donate piles, fills you with fear then wardrobe organisers are going to be your saving grace.

Did you know that, despite owning what feels like the entire contents of ASOS and Net-A-Porter put together, you probably only regularly wear about 20% of your wardrobe? We all have our favourite capsule-wardrobe pieces – with basics such as blazers, white T-shirts, jeans, boots and trainers coming in top – but that leaves us to ask the question: why do we keep the rest if we don’t ever wear it? We bet it’s because if you stood back and looked at your collection, you’d notice that you can only really see a small portion of it.

Not wanting to part ways with all those wedding guest dresses you’ve only worn once doesn’t mean you have to have a messy and unorganised wardrobe. In fact, quite the opposite. We’ve found some of the best and most clever wardrobe storage ideas and organisers to help you show off your belongings (and also find them easier), similarly to these nifty makeup storage ideas. Bonus if you find some outfits you completely forgot about in the process.

How do I maximise my wardrobe space?

In order to really maximise the space you have in your wardrobe, you need to be clever. If you have built-in drawers in your wardrobe then consider using drawer dividers or fabric clothes separators to keep everything in its place and organised. If you find that all your shoes get chucked at the bottom of your closet, why not keep them in pairs with something like this double hanging shoe storage? That way, you can add larger boxes at the bottom and fill them with seasonal items such as winter coats in the summer and bikinis when it’s winter. Catching the drift yet?

If you don’t have drawers but do have shelf space in your wardrobe, then consider these stackable baskets from Amazon. They slide in and out so you can access things like knitwear easily, and utilise the ‘dead space’ you may not have used otherwise. Have space for a shelf but don’t have one built in? Create your own with these expandable shelves that also feature rails for hanging things from. So clever.

Elsewhere, if it’s the size of your wardrobe that’s limiting you when it comes to storage solutions, then why not hang items together and reduce the bulkiness of multiple hangers? Trouser hangers and space saving hangers are a dream for this. Trust us, we have several.
