“I don’t hand out advice. I learned my lesson because if they follow your advice and do what you say and it ends in catastrophe, you are to blame.
“The younger generation make up their own minds anyway,” Mr Weighton added, before saying: “Giving out advice is pretty useless.”
Turning the conversation back to the veteran’s record-breaking birthday, Piers was inquisitive as to how his guest had managed to reach such an age.
Mr Weighton explained he had “no idea” how he’d got to 112 years of age, stating he done lots of “peculiar” things in his life and lived in about 10 different countries.
