10 Video Game Characters Ranked By The Random Things They … – TheGamer

Video game characters can shout some silly things. Some of the things that they yell out are quotes, and some of those things are just utter nonsense, but regardless, we love those characters anyway. When Waluigi said, “Wah, heh, heh, heh,” we all felt that.

With random nothingness and incredible quotes mixed together, it can be hard to determine which character is better at yelling out random things as you blaze through games. Still, I think we can all agree that these characters are some of the absolute best to ever let out a shout. Pop those earplugs in and see if your favorite made the cut.

Link holding the Master Sword in the Wind Waker

The classic Zelda hero had to be somewhere on this list. The hero’s been around for multiple decades, and he’s basically never said a word to anyone. All he does is run around screaming his head off at every opportunity he gets.

The hero has had plenty of unique grunts and shouts over the years, but it’s always funniest to imagine that to be Link’s only form of communication. Forget a vow of silence or the burden of his task weighing on him. Link just communicates as loud and as simply as possible.

9 Liu Kang

Mortal Kombat 11 Liu Kang posing

If you’ve never seen Liu Kang nail a bicycle kick, it’s not just a thing of beauty to witness, it’s also a treat for the ears. The many different voice actors for Liu Kang all deserve credit for those hilarious high-pitched screams Liu Kang lets out as he attacks and takes damage.

The issue is that Liu Kang is now a fire god in Mortal Kombat, which can mean one of two things. One, he might just be too godly for any kind of mortal shouting as he fights, or two, he might take inspiration from Raiden and become even more unintelligible than ever before. My hope is for the latter.

8 Slippy Toad

Slippy Starfox

Sure, if you play well in the Star Fox games, Slippy probably won’t be all that noisy, but that’s for people who’ve mastered the game. On your first time through any Star Fox game, you’re bound to what Slippy a lot, especially in Star Fox 64.

If you thought Ashley Graham was a lot to deal with in Resident Evil 4, you never experienced Slippy. A majority of his voice lines are just him screaming and asking for help. While you might think that would get annoying (it does), you gotta give credit to the frog that is just so bad at his job.

7 Psychos

Borderlands 2 Psycho Main Art

The Psychos from the Borderlands series are a thing of beauty all around. They have so many unique dialogue lines, and almost all of them are instantly quotable despite how completely ridiculous each and every one of them is.

Who could forget such incredible lines that they scream in your face like, “Bring me a bucket, and I’ll show you a bucket” or, “You can’t kill me, I’m already dead tomorrow,” huh? You probably have a favorite quote from them, and they’re probably more twisted and hilarious.

6 Kirby

Kirby sits with wide eyes and an open-mouthed smile.

You might be wondering what Kirby yells out if you’ve only seen the character in passing, but just know, while not much, it is adorable. Kirby doesn’t talk all that often in all those games, but the adorable little puffball does let out the odd energetic “Hi!”

It’s hard not to smile at the adorable delivery of the short phrase, but don’t let it fool you; I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Kirby is pure evil. Nothing can be that cute and have such an endless hunger and not be made for evil purposes, even if it greets people better than anyone has ever greeted someone in the history of the world.

5 Lanky Kong

Lanky Kong on a green background

If you’ve never played Donkey Kong 64, then you’ve missed out on the pure giga-chad energy that Lanky Kong exudes on the daily. Who needs to be like the rest of the family when you could have arms that stretch like they’re made out of rubber?

Of course, things only get better when Lanky Kong lets out all the hilarious little shouts. Pretty much every single jump, and especially when you walk on Lanky’s hands, Lanky Kong lets out some of the most unnecessary noises possible, and it’s wonderful.

4 Raiden

Mortal Kombat X Raiden with arms outstretched

Raiden really did set the standard for what unintelligible yelling can be in video games. All the way from the first Mortal Kombat, fans have been wondering just what in the world Raiden is saying as he soars through the air to smash his opponents.

As time has gone on, Raiden has added even more moves to his arsenal that have him yelling out utter nonsense in the best way possible. It’s possible that with the timeline rewrite in Mortal Kombat One, we’ll finally know what Raiden is saying as he launches some of his iconic attacks.

3 The Dragonborn

The Dragonborn walks through the village of Riverwood in Skyrim

No list about random shouting is complete until someone brings up the master of shouting, The Dragonborn. Your character of choice from Skyrim really can become an absolute master of shouting, even if it’s not entirely random.

I mean, the character is capable of shouting someone clean off of a cliff, I can make an exception to put them on the list. Anyone with pipes that powerful deserves some attention. Besides, the average person won’t know what half of the shouting actually is anyway.

2 Wario

Wario and Bowser racing in heavy karts in Mario Kart 8 Cropped

Your boy Wario is not only a master of farts, not only a master of thievery, and not only a master of messing with Mario’s good time, but he’s also a master of shouting. The absolute unit lets out some of the best lines in the Mario series, whether he’s winning or losing.

There is absolutely no other Mario character that we want to hear utter the words “Yeah, baby,” but for whatever reason, it just sounds natural coming from Wario. This is exactly why Wario is the best, and it’s only one of the many contributing factors.

1 Mr. Torgue

Mr. Torgue in Borderlands

Considering every word out of Mr. Torgue’s mouth is a total scream, it makes sense that he earns a spot here. The man once screamed that a sentence had too many syllables and that an apology was required for that fact, how could you not love him?

Somehow, despite being of relatively sound mind, every word from Mr. Torgue manages to sound like it’s completely random. He loves explosions so much that he wants to blow up the ocean – I can’t think of anything more random to shout than something like that.
