10 hilarious photos from the Comedy Pet Photo Awards

As beautiful as animals are, they can also be downright ridiculous at times – pulling funny faces, running into things they shouldn’t and behaving strangely when they think no one is looking. Luckily, in the age of smartphones, we can capture these moments on camera.

From the founders of the annual Comedy Wildlife Awards , comes the launch of the Mars Petcare Comedy Pet Photo Awards 2020, which looks to celebrate the world’s funniest pets.

The competition is now open and is asking for your funniest pet photos, and funds from entries and sponsorship will go directly to British charity Blue Cross, to help them find happy homes for abandoned or unwanted pets.

Open to both professional and amateur photographers, the winning entry will receive £3,000 and the title of 2020 Mars Petcare Comedy Pet Photographer of the Year. There are seven categories in total (dogs, cats, horses, all other creatures, pets who look like their owners, junior and video) and the competition is open globally.

To enter, simply visit comedypetphoto.com and follow the instructions on site, the competition costs £5 to enter.

Entries close on August 31 and a judging panel – consisting of BBC presenter Kate Humble; TV vet Emma Milne and an animal welfare expert from Blue Cross – will then select the top 40 entries which will be announced on September 28. The winning image will be announced on November 19 this year.
