Pumpkin Jack
Whether you’re a fan of Halloween or not Pumpkin Jack is definitely a game to look out for. It’s a spooky 3D platformer that may sound a bit familiar. Maybe that’s because it shares a name with the famous character from The Nightmare Before Christmas, you know, the King of Halloween. It’s colorful, full of head scratching puzzles and challenging combat. According to the publisher Headup Games, Pumpkin Jack is a mix between MediEvil and Jax & Dexter, so you just know it’s going to be a fun time. Add all of this to its Metacritic score average of 76% and there’s not much else to say.
Temtem
If you’re a fan of the longstanding Pokémon franchise you’ll probably fall in love with Temtem. This is an MMO role-playing game developed by the Spanish studio Crema that allows everyone to become a Temtem tamer. You’ll explore multiple islands and discover new species, all while making friends along your journey. Sounds familiar, right? Just like Pokémon you’ll catch Temtems, battle other tamers and trade with your friends in order to defeat 8 Dojo leaders. Your true goal is to become the ultimate Temtem tamer. And now you can play a similar experience to the loveable Nintendo games on PS5. Which sounds frickin’ sweet to me.
Roki
Roki, from British developer Polygon Treehouse, is an adventure puzzle game set in a snowy world. You play as a young Tove who’s on a journey to find her lost brother and to save her family from a monster named Roki. It’s a game rich in Scandinavian folklore and the storytelling will have you engrossed in its magic from the very beginning. Roki is beautiful and sad, yet accessible to all. It truly is no wonder it’s ranked so high on Metacritic with a score of 85%.
Bonfire Peaks
Just as Roki may be a game about loss, Bonfire Peaks is a puzzle game about closure. It’s simple and refreshing. In fact the main goal each level is to climb the ruins, solve the puzzle and set your items on fire. Sounds like the perfect game to help you get through a big loss in your life. With over 200 puzzles crafted with care and attention, this retro voxel art world created by Pipe Push Paradise and Corey Martin, is very rewarding. Hard to say otherwise when Bonfire Peaks is rated at 88% on Metacritic!
Solar Ash
Solar Ash comes from the makers of the award-winning title Hyper Light Drifter, Heart Machine. It’s a new adventure platformer game that explores important themes of moving on from devastating life events and trauma. You’ll play as Rei, a Voidrunner who’s trying to save her planet from monsters. Be prepared for some intense and high speed boss battles in the Ultravoid. With bursts of color, fluid and fun movement and well-suited music Solar Ash is a full experience that will leave all yearning for more.
